The Boars Head (It had 3 doors Lounge, off Licence & Bar).

The Boars Head an earlier view.

The Boars head Closed its doors in the 90s and had more than its fare share of motor vehicles colliding with it. In 1964 a lorry carrying salt to Salisbury in bad weather collided with the Southerly section of the building rendering it so dangerous that the a large portion had to be demolished with the lorry still in position

In the 1964 crash the driver was lucky to escape injury but in 1941 a tea lorry collided with the North side of the Boars Head with not the same happy outcome this time. The village policeman P.C Benbow was commended for his actions in releasing the occupant of the vehicle. The lorry was carrying tea and it was noted that in the months following the crash cups of tea were not in short supply in the village.
